Tri Something New

It's been forever since I have been here. I am still sewing constantly but have become a lazy blogger because of  Instagram. I just finished my first triathlon that took 3 months to train for. I didn't even know how to swim when I started but now I love to swim. I learned don't be afraid to go out of your comfort zone and push yourself.
I had this stack of charm squares and thought I should finally sew them up into something.
I just finished this custom quilt for my neighbors daughter. I always love a star quilt! I used some of Melody Millers lovely new mustang prints.
Last but not least a pile of sewing I finished today. I love sewing boxy pouches and colored pencil rolls. I hope to be better at putting more of my progress here. Thanks for stopping by!

Minecraft Quilts

Both of these quilts were inspired by the popular game mine craft. My nephew is moving into his new house and was ready for a newly decorated room. This is going to be his new bedspread.
Before I sent it home with them I tried it out on my daughters bed to make sure it fit.
Second quilt was for another mine craft lover. The creeper face. I had such a great time making these pixelated quilts and now I have a son who wants one of his own.

Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Mendocino Quilt

I finally dove in and quilted it. I went back and forth on what I wanted for the backing since Mendocino is so hard to find.
 I love the mermaids!

For the back I picked out this minky and kept the quilting simple.
I am really glad I had the guts to cut into this instead of stare at it.
Now I may be brave enough to do it again!
Happy Friday!

Out To Sea And NYC

After all of the boutique craziness I was able to tag along on a business trip with my husband. It was my first time to NYC. So much to do in so little time.

Cute front doors of the shop.
There was inspiration everywhere in Purl Soho. I picked up a few of these beautiful felt bundles and a little fabric as well. My husband was very patient while I shopped.

We had so much fun eating, walking, shopping and going to plays!
We will definitely need to visit again.
Before we left on our trip I had a quilt that I needed to make when we returned. I love a baby strip quilt It seems like forever since I made a quilt from start to finish.

Out to Sea by Sarah Jane fabric.

Time Flies

I can't believe I haven't blogged in a month! I can tell you that time is flying by. I wanted to show you what I have been up to.
First I wanted to show you my Heather Ross Mendocino Hoard. I finally decided to cut it up and make something. Can't wait to get this one all finished.

I did get a chance to sew a lot of my scraps by making log cabin blocks. I love the blue and pink combo in any quilt.

Last but not least. I know it is a little early for Christmas but I am prepping for one more market. I hope you have a great weekend!

Newlyweds

I needed some inspiration to make a soon to be married family member a quilt for her new home. I secretly asked her sister to give me an idea of her decorating style. She sent me a picture of a pillow she had recently purchased at Anthropologie.
The pillow has two sides so I wanted  to make two quilt tops back to back to mimic the pillow.
This quilt was a fun challenge because it is not something I normally make in style or color scheme. Crossing my fingers that she loves it.
One of the sides folded over so you get the idea of how each side looks.
I am linking up over here. Thank you for stopping by.

Road trip 2

I am calling this one road trip 2 since this is my second attempt at this pattern.
If your not familiar with this pattern it's free and you can find it here.
The pattern is fast and easy and fun. You could easily make it in a larger size or a girl version as well.
 A peak at the back.
Thank you for stopping by! I am linking up over at finish it up Friday.

Another One

Hopefully you are not sick of seeing all of these chevron quilts. I had this top done along with the others but lost the motivation to finish it until now.
I used all Kona solids.
I am loving the yellow and grey combination lately.
Folksy flannel for the back and farmdale in grey for the binding.
Earlier this week I was contacted about this little boy and his family. I sent a couple of quilts they will auction off at an upcoming fundraiser. I was so glad she contacted me and I could contribute.
I will be linking up to finish it up Friday. I hope you all have a great weekend.

Spider Web Quilt

I finally finished this top on Thursday. I used almost all of my selvages which makes me happy. I like making something from what most throw away.
I saw this tutorial and knew I wanted to eventually make one.
Now to decide on the backing and quilting.
I will be linking up over here. Have a great weekend!

Wonky Stars

One of my Christmas finishes. I have been thinking about this quilt since April for a friend of mine. She loves all things patriotic.

I was able to quilt this one myself. It took me a couple of days from start to finish but it feels good to get it done.

Modern Man

A while back I made some blocks with green, black, and grey. Most of the fabrics reminded me of manly fabric (no flowers).
I made each square a different size and then framed them alternating with grey or black.
I went for a straight solid binding this time and think it worked out great with the modern look I was going for.
I am also getting ready for a boutique next week and have been making lots of things to get ready. These coasters are just a sample of what I have made. I put them in sets of four and tied them up with bakers twine. I will be linking up again over at crazymomquilts.

Coming Along

I have spent most of my spare time cutting down my scraps and now I am starting to see the pile dwindling down. When Lu and I went out for lunch last week we both picked up some shot cottons. I used them to make the headband in the middle out of all shot cottons. I will be sending these three out to Rachel. Hope she likes them.
Some of my improv blocks had been made into a quilt top. I have also made more progress on my scrap vomit and can't wait to show you the progress I have made.
