Red and Black

It's been nice to be back making quilts. This quilt was for a friend that went in for heart surgery. Her surgery scheduled for couple weeks away then it was bumped up to a couple of days away. It was a rush but I got it done.
I used red and black out of my stash and a big black and white polka dot for the back.
So glad I can share with my friends and loved ones! Hope to be back here with a couple more finishes before 2014.

Out To Sea And NYC

After all of the boutique craziness I was able to tag along on a business trip with my husband. It was my first time to NYC. So much to do in so little time.

Cute front doors of the shop.
There was inspiration everywhere in Purl Soho. I picked up a few of these beautiful felt bundles and a little fabric as well. My husband was very patient while I shopped.

We had so much fun eating, walking, shopping and going to plays!
We will definitely need to visit again.
Before we left on our trip I had a quilt that I needed to make when we returned. I love a baby strip quilt It seems like forever since I made a quilt from start to finish.

Out to Sea by Sarah Jane fabric.

Custom Quilt

I had a great time making this amazing quilt for a customer. This is a very hip and now quilt. The neon's next to the black and white really make the colors pop.
She also asked for big bold stripes for the back that go perfectly together.

This baby is coming to the world in style!
My other projects have been banners for a upcoming boutique. Something fun since Fall and Halloween are just around the corner. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Spoonflower Buses

Well it's Friday again already and the time has been flying by. I have had a busy week of boutique prep, swimming, and soccer. I started off with the green camper van fabric from spoonflower and used the colors to coordinate the rest of the fabrics.

My little shorty just had to have a photo with the quilt like her brother.

For the back I used a Denyse Schmidt print from Joann's. Hope you have a wonderful weekend! I will be back next week to share my goodies for the boutique.

Newlyweds

I needed some inspiration to make a soon to be married family member a quilt for her new home. I secretly asked her sister to give me an idea of her decorating style. She sent me a picture of a pillow she had recently purchased at Anthropologie.
The pillow has two sides so I wanted  to make two quilt tops back to back to mimic the pillow.
This quilt was a fun challenge because it is not something I normally make in style or color scheme. Crossing my fingers that she loves it.
One of the sides folded over so you get the idea of how each side looks.

Road trip 2

I am calling this one road trip 2 since this is my second attempt at this pattern.
If your not familiar with this pattern it's free and you can find it here.
The pattern is fast and easy and fun. You could easily make it in a larger size or a girl version as well.
 A peak at the back.
Thank you for stopping by! I am linking up over at finish it up Friday.

Pinterest Inspriation

"Wild Dream" Helen Dardik poster.
As I was browsing through pinterest this pin caught my eye. I got to thinking that I would love this color combo in a quilt.

Pow wow pattern + color combo collide and here is my result.

It is hard to tell from this picture but I used several different tone on tone white and cream fabrics in the background.

I almost didn't take pictures of this today because of the drab weather outside. I just didn't want to wait that long to blog again.

Transportation Quilt

When I start a quilt I usually find fabrics I like together and then figure out my backing later. This quilt went in the reverse. I had this cute transportation flannel but I didn't have any ideas.
I decided to go with half square triangles in solids.
It turned out to be perfect for a little boy.
I think I will try using up some of my other fabrics this way as well. I am linking up over at here.

Picnic Quilt

We have had super hot weather where I live. Hot weather = I either go swimming or stay inside.
I had a bunch of half square triangles made up but they never made it into a quilt. All of the fabric is from Denyse's picnic fairgrounds line. I had a lot of fun just playing around with all the things you can do with half square triangles.
 Perfect for a Picnic.
I used a organic blue sheet for the back.

Lots of family, friends, fireworks, and BBQ's are on the agenda for us.
Hope you have a wonderful and safe 4th of July!

Patchwork

I have had a great summer so far with lots of fun and sewing.  When my scraps get out of control I  usually cut them up into 5 inch squares. They are perfect  for future projects like this quilt. I definitely recommend it for times when you need to make a quilt quickly.
I also took the opportunity to practice the orange peel quilting method. Mine are more like butterflies because they are all very unique and not uniform.
Feeling Groovy flannel stripe for the back.
 Thanks for stopping in.

Another One

Hopefully you are not sick of seeing all of these chevron quilts. I had this top done along with the others but lost the motivation to finish it until now.
I used all Kona solids.
I am loving the yellow and grey combination lately.
Folksy flannel for the back and farmdale in grey for the binding.
Earlier this week I was contacted about this little boy and his family. I sent a couple of quilts they will auction off at an upcoming fundraiser. I was so glad she contacted me and I could contribute.
I will be linking up to finish it up Friday. I hope you all have a great weekend.

Sunday Morning

When I bought Amanda Jeans book Sunday morning quilts I instantly loved this quilt. This was one of my favorite ways to use up my scraps.
This is a big quilt. Perfect to use everyday.
For the back I used this big flower print form Joann's.
Some of my strips were only 1 inch wide so I was happy to use them up.
Here is a picture of the cover. The quilt I made just in a scrappy version.
