Out To Sea And NYC

 After all of the boutique craziness I was able to tag along on a business trip with my husband. It was my first time to NYC. So much to do in so little time.

 There was inspiration everywhere in Purl Soho. I picked up a few of these beautiful felt bundles and a little fabric as well. My husband was very patient while I shopped.

We had so much fun eating, walking, shopping and going to plays! 

We will definitely need to visit again.

Before we left on our trip I had a quilt that I needed to make when we returned. I love a baby strip quilt It seems like forever since I made a quilt from start to finish.

Checking In

We left the nasty weather of Utah and went on a week vacation. It was our first cruise and my kids first time at the beach. 

They buried each other in the sand.

Played in the white sand and clear blue water. 

 Spent lots of time relaxing.

 While checking out the ruins we saw tons of iguanas.

We had so much fun. I had the best time with my most favorite people. 

Checking It Off

My husband asked me if I would make some gifts for his co-workers for Christmas a couple of weeks ago. I am happy to say I can check this off my list. I had a total of 18 to make. He asked his Co-workers  for 2 favorite colors and their favorite hobby or interest. I had free reign on the design which was both fun and challenging. Lots of Pictures.

 I found this cute felt flower tutorial here. I love this mustard color and its the really thick wool felt from Joann's.

Raspberry Trifle

Made raspberry trifle for cooking club and it passed the Jeron test, so it was a success. I always get worried when I try something new but how could you go wrong with raspberries, whip cream, and pound cake. I found these lovely recipes from Martha Stewart.

Ingredients
1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
1 cup seedless raspberry jam
4 cups raspberries
2 cups heavy cream
1 1/2 pounds favorite pound cake

Directions
1.In a small saucepan, bring 1/2 cup sugar, 1/4 cup water, and lemon juice to a boil, stirring to dissolve sugar, 1 to 2 minutes. Let cool.

2.In a small bowl, combine jam with 3 cups raspberries, mashing slightly. In a large bowl, whip cream and 2 tablespoons sugar to stiff peaks.

3.Slice pound cake 3/4 inch thick; brush both sides of slices with lemon syrup.

4.Fit 1/3 of slices snugly in the bottom of a 4-quart trifle dish or other glass bowl, trimming edges if necessary. Gently spread top of layer with 1/3 of raspberry mixture, and then 1/3 of whipped cream. Repeat to make two more layers; garnish with remaining cup raspberries. Refrigerate until ready to serve, up to 24 hours.

Father's Day!

This is the creation the boys made yesterday. I love the things kids do when they want to show how much they love you.

Woofum

 Ever heard of a woofum?  I have heard them called doughies too. A woofum is a dessert made over a fire using a biscuit, filled with what ever lovelies you like. They don't sell woofum sticks just anywhere, so we made our own.

                                  Whip cream for topping.

 Use what ever variety biscuit or croissant you like to cook over the fire.

 I used a steel rod you can also use a aluminum rod for the center. 1 1/8 inch dowel to make the handle ( 4 inch length is perfect) and the roasting end 2 inches.

 Soak the roasting end in vegetable oil for 24 hours, this will prevent the dough from sticking. After the dough is cooked it forms a convenient cup for pie filling and whip cream.

Tip: If you Spread the dough thin and it will cook faster, and over the coals is best.

Headband

Yet another project while Noah was sick today. A couple of my friends have adorable headbands from the Beehive Bazaar. This is my attempt at one and I like it.
