Buying Fabric

I have had this post on my to do list for a long time. I am known by my friends and family as a deal seeker. I love to save money on anything and everything. I especially love to find deals on fabric. I thought I could pass on a little knowledge that I have picked up along the way. I don't know everything but these are the helpful things I do to save some extra cash on something I love.

Cash Back
First off I want to introduce you to Ebates.com this is a site that cuts you a check 4 times a year just for going through their site. First you look up where you want to shop and push the shop now button on the website.  I always go here before I shop online at Fabric.com, Hancocks.com or Joann.com. After you sign up and make your first purchase of 35 dollars or more anywhere they let you pick a 10 dollar gift card to Target or Home Depot. Then you can pick how you want your cash back either a check in the mail or you can send it straight to your Paypal account. If your interested go here.

 Online Shopping
I usually shop online because instead of paying 11 dollars a yard I pay anywhere from 8 to 2 dollars a yard. Sometimes it is hard buying online just because you need to see it in person.  If you have a shop near by go check it out in person and see if you like it. It is always important to know the manufacturer and the fabric line name. Once you know the line and company name you can search it out for the best price possible.

Great places to search for fabric that are hard to find
quiltshops.com has 350,000 items from tons of quilt shops all in one spot.
fabshophop.com also a search through hundreds of quilt shops.
Try a different search engine? sometimes I try a different search engine and come up with some very hard to find fabrics.

Fresh Deals
I always try to use a coupon code. I have found a couple of great places to find coupon codes.
Trueup.net She posts about upcoming lines and deals for america and international shops.
Fabricdonkey.com I love this one too! Great coupons and codes I didn't find anywhere else.
you can also put in the shop name and coupon codes and search that way.

Sites I Frequent
It depends on what you are looking for. I buy my Kona cotton solids in store and online at Joanns with a coupon or online at fabric.com plus I go through ebates.com for even more of a kick back.
superbuzzy.com tons of Japanese fabrics
ebay.com sometimes I find a steal on out of print fabrics.
Fabricseeds.com great prices on precuts and new lines.

Always shop the sale and remnant section there is usually something good in there.

Alright all you Heather Ross fans. I have found this little gem that has 6 fat quarters of lightning bugs and other mysteries and 1 3/4 yards of dogs in mustard all uncut but in a quilt kit you can purchase here.
I hope this has been helpful. Let me know if you have any questions.
