Question

With my scraps all sorted out I still had a pretty big bag of the Riley Blake wheels collection left. I do love this line all together so I improv pieced some of the blocks and squared them up to 7 inch blocks.
A little peek of the back.
 Cross hatch straight line quilting.
And since fall is upon us I felt like a little fall project. I have been hanging on to these fabrics for sometime now. I can't wait to finish it up. I was also wondering if you would be interested in how I shop for fabric? This is NOT a sponsored blog and I don't get free fabric so I have to buy fabric for a great deal. How do you purchase your fabric? Do you buy it online? I would love to know.

  1. cute quilts.
i buy at the store, i like to touch it first. but then i don't search for certain lines, just whatever matches my current project that is on hand is what i buy.

  2. I buy almost all of my fabric online. It's not always the best thing. I've bought things that were a completely different color than I thought they were (thought it was brown and it turned out to be yellow). I bought two very different-looking solid yellow fabrics from the same store and had them arrive and be completely indistinguishable from each other. I've had some prints turn out to be much much larger than expected.

But there isn't a good store close to me and when I think about "oh, what if I drive for an hour just to get there and find they don't have anything I like?", I decide that hit & miss online is better.

  3. I buy a lot online but that is only because the best LQS is over 45min away and not open in the evenings. I do make as many trips there as I can because I like to see things together and in person but it's far so sometimes online just works!

  4. I buy almost all my fabric online. There just isn't a good fabric store near enough for me to shop at. I would love to hear how you shop for fabric.

  5. I'd love to hear how other people shop for fabric. I buy most of mine online. I live in a big city, so there are actually a few quilting stores around here, and all the ones I've been to have an awesome selection of stuff. Most of the time when I'm shopping though, I'm looking for something specific and it's usually easier to shop online than it is to go to the store and see if they have what I want. I especially like Kona solids, and Fabric.com has them for $5.48/yard which is the cheapest regular price I've found for them.

  6. Online. There are a couple of fabric shops within driving distance, but it is cheaper for me (In the UK) to purchase from the States and ship it over (esp if buying sale fabric, which I do a lot) than it is to shop locally. And in these hardened times, its all about economy. I mean, I cant give up sewing, can I?! That said, I do shop for FQ in the local shops when I'm in the area, so they do get some business.

  7. Who is the recipient of this cute quilt? I bet you have local friends and family haggling over who gets to have your latest creation. Do you have a sewing studio with like 50 million "tools" needed to get the job done? That's what my crafting space is like. I love the stuff you are making!!
